  • STM has an IT department and has had a 1:1 iPad initiative for over a decade, achieving the Apple Distinguished School Award, while cultivating our hallmark/maintaining our value on handwriting and hands on learning.

The Academic Program

We provide competitive programs with well-rounded offerings to educate the whole person. The core curriculum is in alignment with state and national standards and is rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition.  In addition to the core curriculum, students participate in enrichment courses.

Art and Music classes are held once a week for students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade.

The Art curriculum includes the creation of a wide variety of art, often integrated with grade level curricula in math, social studies, religion, and literature. To varying degrees, all students examine famous works of art and explore their historical and cultural contexts.  Junior high students also learn basic ceramic skills, including hand-building techniques, the potter’s wheel, and glazing and firing ceramics in the school’s kiln.

The Music curriculum is taught in compliance with the National Standards for Music Education and the guidelines set forth by the Music Educators’ National Conference. Singing, dancing, listening, music appreciation along with history, rhythm activities, instrument playing, and theory are combined into a broad-based general music curriculum. Liturgical music is incorporated into the curriculum. Special emphasis is given at all grade levels to applying listening skills to all areas of the school curriculum and relating the arts to other areas of study. Students have the opportunity to participate in plays and musical organizations.

How we support students with learning differences

We support students who present with identified learning differences and demonstrate the need for accommodations by implementing individualized Academic Support Plans designed to level the (playing field) learning experience at STM for them.  These plans are similar to 504 Plans in the public school system.  The support we provide is within the regular education classroom using grade level curriculum.
